Sheet Metal/Self-Tapping Screws
Self-tapping Screws: Screws with coarse threads and a pointed end for use in sheet metal. They're often called metal screws, sheet metal screws, tapping screws, or tapper screws. them to be drilled directly into a surface, sometimes also used in plastic, fiberglass, or wood.
As their name suggests, self-tapping screws are notable for their ability to tap a hole into the material in which they are driven, without the need for a separate tapping drill or similar gear. As such, they can significantly boost productivity by saving time.
These screws can be classed into two separate categories: thread-forming (they displace the material) and thread-cutting (they cut away the material). Thread-forming screws tend to be best for thin and/or soft materials. In this section of our website, you will find a selection of these fasteners, including an array of self-tapping sheet metal screws. Screw kits are also available.
